Court of Appeal plans a valedictory session for Hon. Justice Abdullahi

ABUJA – After meritoriously serving the nation, the legal guru and President of the Court of Appeal, Honourable Justice Umar Faruk Abdullahi (CON) is bowing out of active service on the 30th of November 2009. As it is the tradition of the bench, the Court of Appeal is packaging a Valedictory Session in his honour, to say thank you for the selfless contribution to the growth of the legal profession in Nigeria.
The event which is scheduled to hold on 2nd and 3rd December 2009 in Abuja is being put together by a Special Planning Committee chaired by the Honourable Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu, a woman known for her tenacity and lucidity when it comes to handling high profile events.
The event is expected to host so many important dignitaries who would grace the occasion. So many activities have been outlined to make sure that the two day event is spiced up in a manner befitting the caliber of the retiree, Hon. Justice Abdullahi. The array of activities will start on Wednesday 2nd of December, with a farewell visit to Headquarters and Abuja Division of the Court, it will be followed by the End of Year Conference, and then a private dinner with the Justices will end that day. On the second day, which is Thursday 3rd December, the main event – a Valedictory Court Session that is expected to start from 10 am will take place. On the whole, the entire event will be garnished with a lot of razzmatazz and fun-fare.
Meanwhile, the Planning Committee has concluded arrangement to pay a courtesy visit on the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Mallam Usman Magawata to invite him and the entire NTA management to the event. The committee would also use the opportunity to felicitate with NTA after its 50 years of vibrant and purpose driven television practice in Nigeria.
Commenting on the upcoming event, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Hon. Justice Anyanwu informed NTA Website News that everything has been finalized to deliver the goods of a successful event. In her words, “It is quite normal to celebrate a man like Hon. Justice Abdullahi, who has given all to this nation. He has been a legal light and the future generation will always remember his contribution to the legal profession and the nation at large. We expect a befitting event, because we have done all within our best. Let me also use this opportunity to thank the members of the planning committee who have been very supportive and forthright and I am proud of them” she said.
